Because raising little people takes a village.
Ohana provides professional, reliable and relationship-led nannies across Tasmania and NSW, offering families a flexible alternative to traditional childcare.
Unlike nanny-matching platforms, our nannies are directly employed by Ohana. We take care of recruitment, screening, employment, training and ongoing support, so families have the reassurance of knowing their nanny is backed by the wider Ohana team.
Our nannying services are particularly suited to families who work outside traditional childcare hours, live rurally or remotely, have limited access to daycare, or simply prefer consistent, individualised care within their own home.
What can nannying include?
Every family is different, so we tailor our nannying around your children, routines and household. Support can include:
Age-appropriate, play-based learning and engaging activities
Developmental support that encourages confidence, independence and new skills
Daily routines and care, including meals, naps and bedtime routines
School, daycare and activity drop-offs and pick-ups
Outings and community activities, such as parks, libraries, playgroups and extracurricular activities
Meal preparation and children's laundry
General household cleaning and tidying
Household management and organisation, as agreed with your family
Most importantly, we prioritise consistency and connection. We want your nanny to become someone your children know, trust and look forward to seeing — and someone you feel confident welcoming into your family's village.
Who are our nannies?
We know that inviting someone into your home to care for your children requires an enormous amount of trust. That's why safety, screening and ongoing training are central to how Ohana operates.
At a minimum, all Ohana staff hold:
A current Working with Vulnerable People / Working with Children registration, as applicable
Current First Aid
Current CPR
A current National Police Check
Safe Sleep training
And that's only the starting point.
Our nannies undertake extensive internal training through the Ohana Academy, providing additional education around safeguarding, child development, professional boundaries, communication, safety and the relationship-led approach we expect from everyone representing Ohana.
Our team comes from a diverse range of professional and educational backgrounds. Many of our nannies work, study or have previous experience in fields such as nursing, teaching and education, early childhood, allied health, disability, youth work and community services.
When matching a nanny with your family, we look beyond availability. We consider their experience, skills, personality and compatibility with your family's routines, values and needs to find someone who can build a genuine and consistent relationship with your children.
What does it cost?
Our professional nannying services start from $45 per hour, with rates depending on the days, hours, location and individual requirements of your family.
Because childcare shouldn't have to fit inside a 9–5 box, and finding the right person shouldn't be left to chance.
